OUGD505: Studio Brief 2 - Project Proposal

OUGD505: Studio Brief 2/ Product, Range and Distribution

Project Proposal

Based on my level of bread and extended research I now feel in an appropriate place within my design process to identify an appropriate concept for my practical resolution. I initially considered an informative campaign to highlight that local produce can be affordable for everyone to attack the stigma its too expensive and only for posh people however my informed investigation into the campaigns environment meant this wouldn't be particularly appropriate having identified a local community of Hawarden and client to base my project around, Hawarden is a fairly affluent community village therefore a campaign highlighting the affordability of local produce wouldn't be engaging to the target audience of  a predominantly higher working/ middle class audience.

Identifying my resolution had to appeal to the target audience within this small village community and be appropriate to the client 'The Hawarden Estate Farm Shop' my final concept proposal is a local advertising campaign used as a celebration of local produce. With the rural nature of the community and local produce being sold and used within restaurant menus within the village (see research on Glynne Arms) this is obviously a benefit of the community. Celebrating this use of local produce will further promote its availability via the farm shop and educate the community about this on the doorstep availability. The celebratory nature of the campaign will evoke a sense of community pride and prestige that will further encourage the target audience to shop local produce to develop this community reputation.

The multiple outlets within the community owned by the Gladstone family will produce opportunity for a range of free advertising to engage the audience through the Farm shop, Glynne Arms, Library and other community outlets.
