OUGD505: Studio Brief 2 - Poster Evaluation

OUGD505: Studio Brief 2/ Product, Range and Distribution

Poster Evaluation

The poster series created to promote the campaign works appropriately in engaging the target audience through the use of bold colour inspired by the natural produce it takes its inspiration from. The bold illustrative style is minimal in its composition to apply the full focus of the poster series into the actual produce highlighting its quality which reinforces the campaign as a celebration of local produce. The imagery is carefully considered to connote produce local to the Hawarden Estate many of which grown within its grounds, the series works as a trilogy highlighting three distinct areas of produce the Farm Shop supplies to the local community, an award winning butcher, local vegetables and a wide variety of fruits.

Due to the target audience there was no need to supply the address as the farm shop is known within the community, this allows the aesthetic to be kept minimal with the use of the logo anchoring the imagery and promoting the ethos of the campaign. 'Eat Local' initially sets the tone to make the audience question the source of their current produce this is reinforced with 'Shop Hawarden' which promotes the viability of local community sourced produce as a viable alternative to mass produced goods and by extension the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop. The use of the #eatlocal hashtag helps to engage a digital platform for the poster series and can be used consistently through the campaigns promotion.

The result is an appropriate resolution that will engage the target audience through the bold engaging imagery, the simple aesthetic confidently articulates the concept of the campaign and demonstrates an contextual insight into the community. This aesthetic can be translated into other forms of campaign collateral to extend the appropriate use of marketing within this community environment and promote this celebration of local produce as a viable alternative to imported super market goods.
