OUGD503 Collaborative Practice - Colour Palette

Colour Palette

Acting on feedback from tutors of how the references to Gaps heritage should be subtle and contextual as opposed to overt and in your face I looked at San Fransisco for inspiration as this is where the company was initially founded in 1969. I found a great article from the Guardian that documented the diverse colourful houses that cover San Fran and thought it would add contextual insight to base the campaigns colour palette on these houses.

I began by colour picking the images which resulted in some bright engaging pastels as well as tonal blues that complemented the peaches/pinks perfectly. These colours will work well within the campaign as they connote a sense of bold playful fun which matches the ethos of the campaign extremely well. Both myself and Billy felt these colours matched the ethos of the campaign well and would help bring the illustrations to life and ensure they catch the eye of the user when scrolling through their social media feeds.
